Size: Approx. 1 cm
This wasp was visiting red buckwheat (Eriogonum grande rubescens) in my garden. Any information about its identity will be greatly appreciated!

This is indeed Euodynerus (female)
One of the stout, extensively yellow species of this large (and difficult) genus.
Strongly reminding of Mediterranean species of the dantici-group.

I do figure that either you or Hartmut has likely photographed any bees, wasps, or bee flies I might come across. I didn't know where to start with this one, though...

 
Wasps are tough, and it's often hard to get IDs.
