Poison Hemlock caterpillar (1) - Elaphria
Harms Woods Forest Preserve, Glenview, Illinois, USA
September 17, 2004
On National Public Lands Day, a group of volunteers picked seed of Cicuta maculata, Poison Hemlock. When we brought the seed home, we found it full of these small (~1 cm)caterpillars. We put a bunch in a small saucer which they immediately crawled out of. Here's a group shot.
