Caterpillar - Acronicta oblinita

Caterpillar - Acronicta oblinita
Norfolk County, Massachusetts, USA
September 22, 2006
I found this caterpillar in an Atlantic White Cedar Swamp in Metrowest Boston. Any ideas what it could be? It had very distinct red, black and white markings. Unfortunately the photo didn't come out as well as I would have liked.
THanks

We don't see any black hairs mixed
in with those orange tufts, so we would say Acronicta oblinita. Images in the guide here

The plant
The plant it is feeding on looks to be Water Willow (Decodon verticillatus) if that helps.
