I'd like to know what kind of insect makes this type of cocoon.

Moved from Bagworm Moths.

cocoon
glad to learn what this might be... have been watching a this since a small one 'appeared' on an overhang on my house in destin roughly 6 ft around the corner from an evergreen that is about 6 ft tall...

If it was on an evergreen (cedar?)
it might have been this one.

now an empty cocoon...
had to track down the species of tree... i'm a transplant from 'up north' and just old enough that we never learned species level info just basic types... naturally, being an 'evil' northerner I dragged along some trees that look like home... this one survived and i know that it is an Eastern arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis), often called white cedar.
Never did get to se the thing hatch but it has an interesting 'life story'

I saw one today.
I took a picture of one like this today.

Evergreen Bagworm?
Looks a lot like one to me. Was there an evergreen tree nearby?

There aren't any really close
There aren't any really close but within seeing distance there are small cedars and some pines. I've looked at the other info on these and they look very similar. I will definately be keeping a close eye on this, thanks.
