Unknown Moth from California - Ypsolopha cervella

Unknown Moth from California - Ypsolopha cervella
Mangini Ranch, Contra Costa County, California, USA
June 19, 2013
Size: 7 mm
Another small one at a UV light at a chaparral / grassland border.

Moved to Ypsolopha cervella
Moved from Yponomeutoidea.

Tentative ID. Just read the description "Moths of Western North America". The spots go away with age.

Moved from Crambid Snout Moths.

Looks like 2372 – Ypsolopha cervella but missing spots on inner margin. BOLD does show a couple without spots.

Very nice photo but please crop more tightly. This would have been easier to ID.

crop out antennae?
Yeah, I'm always wondering about that. Given a shot like this, I could crop as a square and get everything in but you wouldn't actually see any more detail, at least on BugGuide. Or I could show more detail but I'd have to crop out the antennae. Better to do the latter? I also try to link to the same stuff on iNat, but this time I forgot. Here's the link for this one: http://www.inaturalist.org/observations/306567

yes
Crop off the antennae and add a linked second hi res image with the antennae. I will say, though, that I downloaded the image and cropped as a square and the moth was nearly 50% larger in the standard BugGuide view. It's good to remember that you want the thumbnail to be as identifiable as possible or it has a good chance of getting passed up by an expert.

Not A Crambid
At full resolution you can see the upturned labial palps.
