Tibicen sp. - Megatibicen grossus

Tibicen sp. - Megatibicen grossus
Valdosta, Lowndes County, Georgia, USA
June 23, 2013
My default assumption was that this is T. auletes, but if I've learned anything in life, it's that my assumptions are often --far too often-- off-base. Plus, this one looked a wee bit smaller than some of the other T. auletes I've photographed this summer. That being said, these photographs were taken immediately after ecdysis. I have a time-stamped, full video montage of the ecdysis process of this individual here: http://dusttracks.com/2013/06/24/video-tibicen-cicada-ecdysis-photo-montage-valdosta-georgia-22-june-2013/. So, the question: Is this T. auletes? Or one of the other, slightly smaller, species of Tibicen? (Plenty of oaks nearby, by the way, but we also have pines in the immediate area.) I thank you for your time! [Two photos will be submitted for this individual]
