pesticide
I was saddened to see this beautiful wasp was killed by pesticides. Just goes to show how non-specific and devastating these chemicals really are.

Our pollinators are in so much trouble these days, and this wasp was an important member of the ecosystem she belonged to. >sigh< .

My garden and yard is 100% organic... my veggies are going crazy all over my yard, my flowers are gorgeous, and not a pest in sight. (Well, the birds peck at the apples, and someone mammalian has been helping themselves to hefty bites of the tomatoes, but no bug damage anywhere!)

Nature is in balance when we let it do what it is intended to do. When we try to "improve" on perfection, we always do more damage than good.

Oh well. Enough of my sermon! Just had to vent! :)

Very interesting
I will be eager to find out what kind of wasp this is, Jeff..I didn't know you lived fairly close to me, we have to get out and do some macro sometime!

Yes
maybe hit Fern Forest Nature Center in the Coconut Creek/Pompano area.

Sweet!
That would be perfect, what days are you available?

Drop me an email at: charlemagne@bellsouth.net
and let me know!

OK
I moved to genus. Sent specimen to Eric Eaton and he should be able to get it to species if not IDed here.
Hopefully several weekends from now I will be able make it down there.
