Bee fly - Systoechus

Bee fly - Systoechus
Fairfield, Wayne County, Illinois, USA
September 2, 2006
Thick on Tick-seed Sunflower (Bidens species) along with soldier beetles. Some, like this one, appeared to take naps on any available support. They were very approachable then. Otherwise very skittish.
