Polistes bahamensis on nest (FL)
The slender first metasomal segment and general coloration exclude all but two species: P. annularis and P. bahamensis. The former, however, lacks the yellow spot on the mesopleuron (faintly visible on the wasp in the background), (almost always) lacks yellow apical band of tergum 2 (see wasp on the left), and has less developed yellow markings on the mesosoma. This leaves only P. bahamensis. These specimens have no yellow on the head which is a little bit unusual for the species. Besides the Bahamas P. bahamensis is known from FL, GA and LA.

Just a coincidence?
Is it just a coincidence that all three have no yellow on their head, or could it be more?

Paper wasps.
Really nice image of a paper wasp nest (genus Polistes). I might be able to provide a species name at a later date.
