A recent trend (not followed by Bousquet (2012)(1) or on BG) is to treat this group as part of the Carabidae (a tribe of uncertain placement), notably in "Systematic List of Ground Beetles" (Lorenz 2005) and "A Treatise on the Western Hemisphere Caraboidea Vol III" (Erwin 2011)

The two genera are easily told apart:

Omoglymmius has the elytral striae strongly punctate and the lateral grooves of the pronotum long

Clinidium has the elytral striae not or indistinctly punctate and the lateral grooves present only on basal half
