Checkered Setwing - Dythemis fugax - male

Checkered Setwing - Dythemis fugax - Male
San Antonio area, Bexar County, Texas, USA
September 28, 2006
I was finally to get a few half way decent shots of a couple males that seem to be very plentiful around here about now. These two are of the same male. I was able to get one shot of him prior to setting his wings forward, and another after. I thought I'd share both images.

Nice shots
I notice he has just the slightest hint of brown wingtips.

Pretty little feller huh?
Yeah . . . just a ting along the edges. It's amazing to me how many of these there are out here right now. I see one every few step when I'm walking one of my fence lines that's about half way covered in wild mustang grape vines. I see a few others mixed in as well, but it's mostly these guys and no females.

It must be a bumper crop this year for Checkered Setwings around here?
