Schizocerella lineata (Rohwer), female. There are two species of Schizocerella in N. Amer. This one, which feeds externally on purslane, and Schizocerella pilicornis, which is a leaf miner of purslane. They can usually be separated by color, S. lineata with more red on the thorax, and S. pilicornis with the dorsum of the thorax mostly black and abdomen with a very narrow lateral pale stripe.
