Megachile (Eutricharaea)
definitely not mendica

I think it is M. concinna (vertex appears narrow, unlike rotundata)

Moved
Moved from Megachile mendica.

I'm not sure of the species ID
perhaps it is better to call this Megachile sp.

very likely Megachile mendica
a common bee in Central Park; but would be hard to prove this from the photo alone; female; compare with my M. mendica photos as www.discoverlife.org

Megachile
Thanks for the ID help! Beautiful pics on the blue aster on www.discoverlife.org We do see many of these bees in CP - but so far no page exists on BugGuide for this species. Sandy

how big was this bee?
If rather large (about honey bee size) then likely M. mendica, if clearly much smaller could perhaps be M. (Eutricharaea)

Bee
This bee was noticeably larger than the common stockier leaf-cutting bees near it. Honeybee size seems right. I'll submit a pic of the other species it was hanging out with for comparison,(on Mist Flower). Sandy
Also, this bee vigorously pumped its abdomen up and down.

size sounds right
for M. mendica

Megachile sp.
Added a second image with better detail. This is the best we can do for this one. Hope it helps! Sandy
