AZ Powdered Skipper - Systasea zampa

AZ Powdered Skipper - Systasea zampa
Baboquivari Mountains, Pima County, Arizona, USA
September 29, 2006
Size: 25-30mm tip to tip
New genus and species for Bugguide. Saw several of these (AZ Powdered-skipper, Systasea zampa) "puddeling" near seeps in the canyon. Distinguished from S. pulverulenta (Texas Powdered-skipper) by having "offset spots in transparent band." Transparent band on upper front wings. Also, based on previous locality records. Hope Tony will create another new page.

Superb photo
