Green version of two striped planthopper? DIN55 - Acanalonia bivittata

Green version of two striped planthopper? DIN55 - Acanalonia bivittata
Fairfax County, Virginia, USA
August 7, 2004
Size: 1/4-3/8 inch or so
Is this green form of the two-striped planthopper?

Another example from the guide:

Yes
Yes, this is the standard color pattern of Acanalonia bivittata. The reddish forms are more uncommon.

I took the liberty of unlinking the two photos. The "Add Image" command should only be used for two photos of the same specimen. I assume these were two different individual insects.

To refer to another image of another specimen to comment on it, put something like thumb:78539 in your text, with brackets around it. You get the number from the tail end of the webpage address in BugGuide where you saw the image.

Nice image, by the way!

supersaturated color
The actual color should be pink, not red.

Saturated color
Andy:

You're correct; this was taken with Ecktochome VS (vivid saturation) and it's more reddish than it should be. However, there does seem to be some variation among individuals. Individual taken in digital a few weeks ago was very pale pink. Found one this morning that was a much richer pink leaning more toward red.

Thanks
Thanks for the ID. You are correct; different specimen. Will remember to separate in the future.
