Perfect control over depth of field. These guys can be really be tough, but it does help to feed them during the photo session!

thank you both. i do love taking pictures of Diogmites species, interesting characters, and it does seem to help to catch them during a meal... or better yet in the morning. earlier in the summer i would find a D. neoternatus hanging around in the mornings that was so placid you could reach down and let it crawl on your finger... then i would hum "ride of the valkyries" and we would head for some catalpa trees where it would always find a wasp to fly after, well i always got a kick out of it.

 
What fun. Quite a story.
Guess I should stop singing country when I'm on the trail. And it seemed so natural! LOL.
