I'm pretty happy with this picture, because it shows the ocelli quite well. I think it's one of the Megachile bees but I'm not sure and I certainly don't know which one. Anyone have any idea?

Male/Female
I'm curious what the differences are between the males and females that you can see in this picture. If you determined that it was male based on my measurements, then it may be wrong. I didn't actually measure it with a ruler and the 10-12mm was an estimate. Perhaps I should have said so.

 
Yellow spot
Males have a yellow spot or stripe just above the mouth. Sometimes it's covered with hair and not visible.
