Beetle found in salt lake city - Neandra marginicollis - Male
Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA
July 21, 2013
Size: not quite an inch
this beetle hitched a ride into the house on my brother, when he discovered it he swatted it off and proceeded to freak out. I collected it in a jar and then a day or so later I took this photo in my studio. The internet leads me to believe it is some kind of stag beetle, I am trying to find out if that is correct.

Hi Jake
I am working on an illustrated guide to the beetles of Arizona. This species is listed for our state, but I have not yet found a specimen to photograph. Would you allow me to use your excellent photo?
