Maybe Desmia maculalis?
I just happened upon a
Desmia
last night, and I went looking to ID it. I read in Covell that
D. funeralis
and
D. maculalis
are pretty similar. Bob Patterson noted that
D. maculalis
has a white patch on the head while
D. funeralis
has maybe a few white scales. So I'm wondering if the white spot on your image here is big enough to be considered a "patch?"

I'm clueless, but thanks!
Gosh, I didn't even know about the other species. I just identified this from Covell, without much care, apparently. I don't think I even knew about MPG at that time.
Thanks, maybe we should ask Bob. I'll get to that later in the week, unless you want to--be my guest.

That Much White....
... in the head spot seems to make it D. maculalis (IMHO).
