Running Spider - Trachelas tranquillus

Running Spider - Trachelas tranquillus
Scranton, Lackawanna County, Pennsylvania, USA
September 28, 2006
Size: Body 3/4 to 1 inch
Found this one on a doorway in my home, about 4 feet above the floor. I Found another just like it, but a bit smaller, 2 days later in a stairway that goes to the ouside. Seems they are looking to get out of the colder weather.

* ID courtesy of Eric Eaton *

Only to genus.
I identified this only to genus, so not sure where the species epithet came from.

RE: Only to genus
Eric,

You mentioned it's a running spider in email. I also found this which was ID'ed by you here: http://bugguide.net/node/view/7406 . I think it is an exact match. It also states that they enter homes in autumn which of course is when I saw it.
