Black-horned Tree Cricket - Oecanthus nigricornis - female

Black-horned Tree Cricket - Oecanthus nigricornis - Female
Amherst, Massachusetts, USA
September 14, 2003
Shot in a field full of goldenrod. There were several individuals singing on these plants, and I was happy to find a female. If you look closely you can actually see her ears on the front legs (the light-colored patches).

Markings and range match with the info on Singing Insects of North America.
