Shiny Black Field Ant - Queen - Formica neogagates - Female
Scherman Hoffman Wildlife Sanctuary, Bernardsville County, New Jersey, USA

I found a small colony of these guys under a small chunk of a log in a fairly opened patch of woodland. I found two queens and a couple of male/new queen alates, and a bunch of pupal cocoons.
