Diabrotica virgifera - Female
Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, USA
August 3, 2013
Size: 5mm
Easily the most frustrating beetle to photograph this summer for me. It would not stop crawling or flying and, although I can usually wait the beetle out until it calms down, this one, upon the slightest disturbance, would crawl/fly at full speed. I eventually had to set up my photo station right beside the refrigerator and whip the beetle out of the fridge quickly, snap a quick shot, and throw him back in there and hope the photo turned out. Eventually I got this.

Female
I was wrong the first time.
