tumidus - Latin for "swollen," referring to the round, high-domed shape.

Black with two transverse rectangular or oblong markings on elytra
Venter (underside) black with red-orange meso- and metasternum and abdomen.

Chilocorus kuwanae has rectangular or square spots that resemble the oblong spots of C. tumidus, but shape is tapered towards the rear of the body and ventral red area is usually darker.
