This is a male Eumerus. This genus is imported from Europe. You can not identify the species from a picture (there are 3 species in the US and it is likely to be E. tuberculatus).

I am just blown away by how many life forms can exist in one corner lot, just a few miles from a major metopolitain city! (Seattle). With the exception of maybe 10 photos, every one that I have submitted was from my yard! Of course we don't use insecticides & that helps!
