Stung on my neck
Two different occasions, on my neck, by this wasp/bee 2007-2009. Located in Hawaii, about 1/4" long. It moves fast and straight to my neck. The sting leaves a burning sensation. I stomped it with my fist and it still moves. So I stomped till it was dead. Any feed back is appreciated.

yes it is
GREAT FIND!

Ampulex
thank you as always Dr. Ascher, i regret not getting better pictures of this wasp... but i always keep an eye out for things running along the ground, so perhaps next time i will have better luck.

Impressive
Our only Cockroach hunter in this region. One other species in Texas. These are very hard to find. Small wasps that use nymphal roaches and build nests inside stems and twigs. Fine shots.

Oh
And the Arkansas Entomological Society is meeting this next weekend in your town Edward. You should hop over and have a look. I will be on call unfortunately. Norm will be there. There are many there who have never seen an Ampulex. And there are several photo contest categories for insects there as well.

is that so
i will without a doubt look into it, i did know that the Arkansas Insect Festival was going on thursday, and i think i have some time to stop by that day, but was unaware of the Entomological Society meeting. a photo contest would be fun, but i do not think i have the caliber of photo required to enter. also, i was pretty excited to find the Ampulex, at the time i could only remember the genus, but the friend i was with got to hear all about it, weather he wanted to or not.
