Prominent Caterpillar with Parasites - Heterocampa guttivitta
Libertytown, Frederick County, Maryland, USA
August 11, 2013
Size: around 1 1/2"
Resembles Saddled Prominent, but not sure.
..found on oak.

Moved from Prominent Moths.

The way the yellow side stripe breaks on A7
points to Heterocampa guttivitta

Thanks for clarifying

Chalcid parasites…
The pear-shaped larvae are suggestive of Euplectrus. Chalcids in the genus Eulophus also attack some Heterocampa members.

See reference here.

Thanks for the info on the parasitic larvae.
