Robber Fly (with prey) - Efferia aestuans

Robber Fly (with prey) - Efferia aestuans
Greenville, Providence County, Rhode Island, USA
August 12, 2013
Size: ¾"
This Robber Fly looks similar to one I submitted a few days ago, as like that one, this has a long appendage at the end of the abdomen.
This one I found one a green fence stake in my yard. I've kept the photos in the vertical position, as that how I saw and photographed it.
Looks like its prey is a common species of fly. The Robber Fly was tolerant, yet when I tried for another angle, it was gone in flash.
