Robber Fly - male

Robber Fly - Male
Dawson County, Nebraska, USA
August 11, 2013
Size: Over 1 inch
Found along canal cut through bluffs about 5 miles south of Gothenburg. Posted another photo of the female. Assuming this one belongs in the Scleropogan genus.

Moved from Robber Flies.

Indeed
There are two Stenopogon in NE as well. It is is in one of those two genera. And is not Stenopogon inquinatus or Scleropogon picticornis.

Same
Would you say this one is the same species as the one Jon Rapp found in Ks. a couple hundred miles south of this location? Possibly S. helvolus? In case you are interested here is the flickr address for my robber fly photos. All from Ne. Mostly SE but a few from out west.
