T. Tibicen?
My first inclination is a
Tibicen Tibicen
. But, it could be a
Tibicen Lyricen
. Does it have a strong black stripe down the middle of the underside of the abdomen?

Tibicen tibicen (chloromerus)
Female specimen exhibiting the more colorful mesonotum common for mid-Atlantic phenotypes. These are FREQUENTLY misidentified due to skewed traits used to id most other T. tibicen pop's.
Key characters to watch for include the following:
1) Tibicen tibicen: note the large white spots at the base of the abdomen and green legs
2) Tibicen lyricen: female lyric cicadas lack the large white spots and all lyric cicadas have brown legs

Thank you, Bill
Thank you, Bill, for the link to all that excellent information on separating out the Mid-Atlantic Phenotypes of
T. Tibicen
with
T. Lyricen
.
I've bookmarked that page and will definitely be using it for reference!
BTW - I finally heard a T. auletes in our area a couple of days ago. But, I haven't heard anymore. Also, I keep hearing what sounds like a T. Resh in our area, but I don't know of any T. Resh records for Missouri in the past 50 years or so. I'm keeping an eye out for him and hope to catch him. Barring that, I'll try to figure out some way to record him.
