A pretty, dealated Queen Ant - Tetramorium immigrans - Female
Albuquerque, Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA
July 30, 2013
Size: body 8 mm
We had an influx of several queen ants on our back porch within a couple of weeks, following some rains. I was sure I would be able to ID this one, but I think I need help. Thanks

Tetramorium sp.- reproductive female
Maybe the widespread species E (the pavement Ant), formerly thought to be conspecific with European T. caespitum. Many ant species "swarm" after a rainy episode. Thus, it is a bit easier for the wannabe queens to dig out their shelter into the softened ground.

Can this be moved to genus Tetramorium ?

Tetramorium sp.
Thank you...I knew that they swarmed after a rain, but I assumed they were driven out of the nest by the rainfall. Thanks again.
