Lasiopogon
These are robber flies (Asilidae) from the genus Lasiopogon. With the light grey color and the medial stripe on the scutum, they're probably either L. cinereus or L. aldrichii. Do you remember the general habitat? L. cinereus is almost always found on boulders and cobbles in and along streams. L. aldrichii can be away from water, such as on rocks along mountain paths.

The flies were near water, amidst a series of small alpine ponds and streams just North of the Yosemite border. Hence, these may be L. cinereus.
