Red ants appear to protect aphids?

Size: very small
Hi guys. Can you help me out here? I found all these red ants protecting what appear to be aphids? Only I never saw black and yellow aphids? Is that an aphid? (center, a bit left, red eyes, black & yellow) ... they were protecting them, so I assume they have to be aphids.... ?

Treehopper nymph
Look at this page for an explanation. I think they are correct in what they are talking about. (I don't know if this is the same Treehopper species as yours is though.)
