Green Darner Mating Pair - Anax junius - male - female

Green Darner Mating Pair - Anax junius - Male Female
San Joaquin Marsh, Irvine, Orange County, California, USA
October 11, 2006
Don't the single adults ever perch? All I see are tenerals and mating pairs. This is a typical duo, but they could have picked a nicer place to deposit the eggs. Several pairs were in evidence. In some cases, the female was into the water up to the base of her wings. I felt fortunate to be able to shoot this pair from several angles.
