Butterfly - Pieris rapae

Butterfly - Pieris rapae
Mineral County, West Virginia, USA
September 12, 2004
I will let someone else properly place this one. I can't distinguish between all the sulphurs and similars.

Cabbage White
I agree with Alan on Pieris rapae whose hindwing underside is usually some shade of yellow, and whose forewing underside is tipped with yellow. I think the upppermost of the three grayish spots is on the hindwing, and the two lower ones are forewing spots showing through.

Cabbage White
Pieris rape fits the bill.

Dainty sulphur?
Not certain at all about this being Nathalis iole. Glassberg (1) doesn't show them in WV, but USGS NPWRC does. Other thoughts?
