I had one in my yard also. I don't know if my photos are still available but you can try looking for "Fat Brown Spider Lives Under A Leaf". It to me like the same type. Or at least in the same family. You are right about it being an orb weaver. Mine was living near my pond and every morning it had a new weave for me to view. lol
