Range

Parts of American Southwest into Central America.

Habitat

Found on Opuntia (Prickly Pear) cacti and various trees, including especially coconut palm trees.

Food

Dactylopius opuntiae is on their menu according to "only photo" , this species also eats site linked below.

In this table of biological control introduction in Puerto Rico Astereolecanium bambusae, Astereolecanium pustulans and Pseudaulacapsis pentagona.
