Moved from Syrphid Flies.

These two genera can be difficult to tell apart; hopefully someone will take the plunge! Moving them out of Syrphidae to clarify the ID situation.

Maybe. Platycheirus is another candidate.
I also think there is a third, but can't seem to find it. Posture does seem to favor Melanostoma.

also looks like a strong possibility, to me, but I will wait for more experts as many of these are really hard to tell apart.
