Pipevine Swallowtail - Battus philenor - male - female

Pipevine Swallowtail - Battus philenor - Male Female
Mineral County, West Virginia, USA
August 3, 2004
I am very willing to be corrected on this one, since others are said to mimic. This seemed to fit all except the range (southern US to Mexico). Anyone want to take a look and let me know?

Yes, Pipevines, wonderful photo
"Southern US" in the range means north to New York, Wisconsin, etc. I believe they are quite to be expected in West Virginia. The maps below show them in every county of the state, practically.

Maps:
Butterflies of North America
Butterflies and Skippers of North America--a very similar site

Lovely photo.

Thanks, Patrick.
Appreciate your help.
