This grasshopper didn't hold the typical grasshopper posture I'm used to seeing. Is this an egg-laying posture?

Not a grasshopper expert...
But I can tell you she is ovipositing her eggs into the soil. The grasshopper does seem very Melanoplus in characteristic.
