Are those treehoppers on the plant stem?
Why don't they get eaten by the spider? Do you have more images?

Those are roots that grow out of the sides of the English Ivy.

I think this might be the only one that came out and the dumb guy cut all those vines down so I can't get another. Plus it's been below freezing just about every night.
