These
are late season Asilinae members. The golden red mystax and the red black red legs help. The genitalia are very distinct under the scope compared to Machimus.

Moved from Robber Flies. Paul, you seemed to have the ID (and to know your robber flies!), so I went ahead and moved your images to this species. Apologies if this is not what you wanted.

I was actually looking at this genus, trying to ID another robber from Pilot Mountain, NC, and I came across your images.
