Polydesmida? - Polydesmus

Polydesmida? - Polydesmus
Logy Bay, Northeast Avalon, Newfoundland/Labrador, Canada
October 19, 2006
Size: 18mm body length
In the spring of this year, I photographed another millipede that was identified as Polydesmida because of its 18 body segments. Does this millipede appear to be the same species as the other one? I suspect that it is but I'm not certain.  There is also an injury that can be seen on the right side of this one, toward the rear.  Do these sorts of things heal and would another leg grow back where it appears to be missing? BTW, this millipede was crawling on a window screen when I photographed it. I found it under a rock in our back yard but moved it to this screen in our garage for the photos.

Moved
Moved from Polydesmida.

We heard from Dr Rowland Shelley
that he should have time this spring to visit BugGuide and help us out with our millipedes and centipedes. We should all learn a ton about the images on BugGuide when that happens. Until then, unfortunately, at least we can't help with your ID, though some of the other regulars have worked to understand them better.

Thank you!
Thanks for the information. That will be great. Let's all hope it's able to happen as planned. :) Until then, I'm moving this set of photos over to Polydesmida with the other individual that I photographed.
