Phoebis sennae - female

Phoebis sennae - Female
Tulsa, Tulsa County, Oklahoma, USA
October 19, 2006
Here is the adult form of the caterpillar I posted back on October 5, 2006. I kind of rushed my photos because my wife and I were running late for a dinner date. I called our friends and explained the situation (they're both teachers, the husband being a middle school science teacher), so we easily got an extension. The butterfly had just emerged and was still not ready to fly, and with there only being a few more hours of daylight, this was the optimum time to photograph and release him/her. I'm getting a Nikon D50 very soon, so I hope my photographs improve!

It's a her, I believe
I've been browsing on BG, looking at cloudless sulfur shots and came upon yours. I believe this is a female because of the white dots on the hind wing underside and more patterning overall.

Males look like this

and this .

Congratulations on the successful rearing. Fun to see!
