Hairy Spider - Araneus gemmoides

Hairy Spider - Araneus gemmoides
White Salmon, Klickitat County, Washington, USA
October 19, 2006
Size: Approximately 1.5 inches
Found crawling across my blacktop driveway around 8 A.M. Had rained earlier in the morning and things were quite damp. Temperature was around 55 degrees F. Was moving slowly until I tried to herd it into a jar and then began to move very quickly trying to escape.

ID
Looks like it might be Araneus gemmoides (Cat-faced spider).

Thanks!
John,

I couldn't believe I got a response within 2 -3 minutes of posting a picture! I just did a search and found a "Cat-faced Spider" link with images that look exactly the same as my own picture. Thank you very much for your help.

Rick
