Beetle Larvae

Beetle Larvae
Ascension Parish, Louisiana, USA
October 8, 2006

Moved
Moved from Larvae.

ID subfamily
The shape of mouthparts and of the postnotal fold imply that this larva belongs to the subfamily Lamiinae, maybe Acanthocinini.

Moved
Moved from Longhorned Beetles.

Two beetle families here :-)
This larva appears to be a longhorned beetle. The bark beetles have very different-looking larvae. You should unlink this image and put it in family Cerambycidae.

Longhorn Beetle
I posted an image of a longhorn beetle a couple of days ago so I know they're in the area. Someone moved those images to the Obrium maculatum section of the site.

I don't think I can move images.

Just click on Tag,
then navigate to Cerambycidae, lick Images tab and click Move Tagged Images. It's that easy.

If you were to keep this larva and rear it to adulthood, we would be able to assign it to a species page. But for now, it should stay at family level.
