I see no clear spot at the ba
I see no clear spot at the base of the hindwing (crescent shaped ) thus Carolina would be a good id.

Carolina Saddlebags
I believe that this is the Carolina.
The black on the end of the abdomen appears to go all the way around, and there are no clear windows in the red colored area of the wings like the Red Saddlebags have.

I really need to wait
before I celebrate. This is a very important ID request here. This species is a new find in Rouge Park. It was identified in hand this summer but nobody had a camera that day. We are pretty certain its a Carolina but its the first photographic record of it in the park. Im hoping to get another confirmation on this before I break out the champagne

Most definitely!
:)

Thats great!!!
Thanks so much for your time and help, its great news for the park

I'm not an expert, so you can

Congrats!

With the heavily black spots on top of S8-9
on top of S8-9, I'm thinking Red Saddlebags (Tramea onusta).
