Greenish Fly

Greenish Fly
Seattle, King County, Washington, USA
October 21, 2006
Size: approx 1cm
There were 20 or more of these flies on the trunk of my cherry tree. They blended in very well with the lichens on the tree trunk.

Moved
Moved from Muscoidea.

Phaonia?
I had some better images of this species ID'd as Phaonia species (see http://www.diptera.info/forum/viewthread.php?forum_id=5&thread_id=4860#post_22275 on Diptera.info...
Perhaps a new guide page is warranted?

Flesh fly?
Reminds me of:

Other images have eyes more the color of yours.

I don't really think so...
They were congregating in large numbers, and all the flesh flies I've seen are more gray w/red-tipped abdomen
Thanks, though.

Maybe a muscid?
If you haven't already, check muscoidea.

Anthomyiidae?
I found a couple of photos that look similar...

I was looking at color of thorax, color of wings (incl. spots) and color of eyes/face.

Well, it seems we're getting closer, if not there
I wondered about the root maggot fly myself. Hope an expert weighs in on this one.

In your other post of the ?same? fly, I noticed white feet. Some months back, there was something about this in another post. Couldn't find it this time, looking for white "feet", "hands", "gloves" and "shoes".
