It is probably
Nicrophorus orbicollis
judging on the fact that the epipleura look entirly black ; but it isn't the best angle for be sure.

We have some other pictures of this beetle from other angles. You can see that the beetle is black. I guess the part you called epipleura is the part that has the mites riding on the surface.

The epipleura is the inflexed
The epipleura is the inflexed part of the elytra on the side. The color of this part is of great taxonomical value for identify
Nicrophorus sp.
. The part covered by the mites is the pronotum, what is always black exept for two species in North America.
