Similar to Sphaeromias longipennis
This reminds me of Sphaeromias longipennis except the antennae are too short. If you have photos of the antennae from another angle (to show if perspective makes them look short) and clearer pictures of the claws, including hind claws, I might be able to ID it.

That species is more like 1/4 inch, one of the largest Ceratopogonidae. I assume you estimated size rather than measuring.

John, I just added two pictures, one from a slightly different angle which may show the length of the antennae more accurately. I'm sorry, but I don't have a clearer picture of the hind claws. Re the size, I don't think it was 1/4" long. I estimated the size based on the size of the fly relative to my finger and thumb. I've attached a resized picture of the uncropped picture to show the relative size. My fingers aren't particularly long.
